ISIS leader

Iraqi police announced on Wednesday that security forces are about 800 meters from Al-Jami' Al-Nuri mosque and its Manaret Al-Hadbaa or (The humped minaret) in Mosul.

Spokesman of Iraqi Federal Police said that the forces are advancing towards Al-Nuri mosque after they recaptured the bridge leading to ISIS stronghold in the old city of Mosul.

The mosque is one of the most significant historical landmark of Mosul city where leader of ISIS terrorist group Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi recited his first speech.

On February 19, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the start of the operation on state TV, saying government forces were moving to "liberate the people of Mosul from Daesh oppression and terrorism forever", using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.
