Iraq hands Iran bodies of 76 fighters killed during the 1980s war

Iraq handed over bodies of 76 fighters to the Iranian side. They were killed during the 1980s war with Iran in which Baghdad emerged victorious.
Border points authority official Alaeddin al-Qaisi said that al-Shalamaga border crossing between Iraq and Iran saw handing over bodies of Iraqi military officials killed during the 1980s war.
This happened after signing the handover report between the two sides.
Also, the Iranian bodies were handed to Tehran under the supervision of the Red Cross and representatives of the two sides.

A source in Diyala said last Tuesday.Iraq and Iran are to swap bodies of fallen soldiers who died in the eight-year war between the two countries in the 1980s.

The exchange of bodies will happen at the border crossing of al-Monzeria east of Baqubah.
"The Iraqis will hand over bodies of 32 soldiers to Iran. And the Iranians will hand Iraq bodies of 73 fallen troopers," he added.
