Commander of al-Jazeera Operations Abdul Amir Yarallah revealed Wednesday information about the remaining areas the need to be cleared in western Anbar towards the Syrian borders and from Rawa town to al-Hadar district in western Mosul.
In a press statement, Yarallah said that the next phase of al-Jazeera clearance operation would include 16 square kilometers located on the road connecting Rawa and al-Hadar towards the Syrian borders.
Security forces will begin the Jazeera clearance operation within the few coming days. Border guards will be responsible for securing this area as soon as it has been cleared, he noted.
On November 17, the Iraqi forces recaptured Rawa, the last town in the country controlled by ISIS.
The move leaves the terrorist group on the verge of complete defeat in Iraq.
It was reported that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi would announce that Iraq has been fully recaptured from ISIS after the latest military operation against the terror group in western Anbar desert ends.
