The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was still alive after examining the authenticity of his audio recording, Turkey Telegraph reported Thursday.
Eric Pahon, a spokesman for Pentagon Middle East desk, told Anadolu correspondent that examination of the voice recording showed that
Bagdadi was alive.
"US intelligence agencies have determined that alleged voice recording belonging to al-Baghdadi is real. Logically, this is indication that Bagdadi lived until recently when it was received, "he said.
Last month, a 46-minute audio recording was released. It was claimed it belongs to Bagdadi.
Russia claimed that Baghdadi was killed in an attack in July.
Moreover, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that it had “confirmed information” that Baghdadi has been killed.
