Mohamed al-Halbusi has been sworn in as governor of Anbar, a source revealed on Thursday.
In press statements, the source, who asked to remain anonymous, said that al-Halbusi was sworn in as governor of Anbar before the President of Anbar Court of Appeal.
Halbusi has assumed his functions as governor of Anbar, he added.
Anbar provincial council nominated Halbusi as the new governor a month ago after removing Suhaib al-Rawi from office.
Al-Rawi was dismissed over financial and administrative corruption charges.
In July, Anbar Provincial Council voted overwhelmingly to dismiss al-Rawi.
