Spokesman for the Saudi-led Arab Coalition Forces Major Gen. Ahmed Assiri said Saturday that victory over Houthis in Yemen has delayed due to the keenness of the forces to protect civilians.
At a symposium organized by the Saudi Embassy in Norway, the Saudi general explained that the Houthis deploy their militiamen in the densely-populated areas to take civilians as human shields.
The coming days will witness the collapse of Houthis as the Yemeni army and the popular resistance forces are close to Sanaa, he revealed, adding that the Yemeni government is controlling 85 percent of the Yemeni territories.
Assiri also spoke about the destructive role of the former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh, which led the country to this devastation, destruction and depletion of the treasury of the Yemeni central bank.
Saleh will definitely stand trial for his crimes against Yemen and Yemenis, Assiri indicated, saying that the Saudi kingdom offered dlrs 2 billion as a deposit for the Yemeni central bank.
