Suicide bombing attack thwarted in France's Montpellier

Scene after terror attack

Four people have been arrested including a suicide bomber in the southern French city of Montpellier by counter-terror police on Friday, according to the BBC.

Home-made explosives similar to those used in the deadly Paris attacks of November 2015 were also seized, according to officials.

A 16-year girl was arrested in addition to three young men.

France has been fighting so-called Islamic State (ISIS) and other Islamist militants over the past two years.

Last month, a soldier sustained minor injuries when a machete-wielding man tried to sneak into the Louvre museum in Paris.

The man, a 29-year-old Egyptian named as Abdullah Hamamy, was shot and fatally wounded.

In the meantime, the country's supreme constitutional court turned down a law which penalized those who consult jihadist websites.

The Constitutional Council found that the law infringed on people's freedom of communication unnecessarily.
