Jabouri proves IMIS leaders involvement in smuggling weapons to ISIS

Saladin Governor Ahmed Abdullah al-Jabouri accused al-Hashd Shiite Militias (IMIS) leaders of smuggling weapons, ammunition and food supplies from the recaptured Qadaa al-Sharqat area to ISIS territories.

The governor asserted that the initial investigations proved the involvement of IMIS 51st Brigade commanders in systematic smuggling operations by boats in Tigris river, which helped ISIS to regroup after a major drawback in their fighting abilities.

The battle for Mosul is the biggest ground operation in Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion. A victory by the 100,000-strong US-backed pro-government force would probably spell the end for ISIS self-styled caliphate that has ruled over millions of people in Iraq and Syria since 2014.
