Tribal conflict in Basra, Nasiriyah 'real terror': MPs tell Baghdad Post

Al-Hashd Shiite Militias

Tribal conflict in Basra and Nasiriyah cities and other cities in southern Iraq is considered the real terrorism especially after leaving dozens of civilians killed, members of parliament of the southern governorates told The Baghdad Post on Wednesday.

The tribes possess heavy weapons, machine guns and armored vehicles, the MPs said, adding that there are a number of gangs that are specialized in selling weapons in the southern governorates especially after the deterioration of the security situation in these areas.

The armed militias are affiliated to religious parties and al-Hashd Shiite militias (IMIS), they said, adding that these militias are playing with the tribes in which they use their conflicts to control them.
