Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei described on Wednesday the recent deadly protests in the country as a “dangerous conspiracy”.
He said the people of Iran defeated the attempt which had costed plotters a huge money.
“A deep, vast and very dangerous conspiracy that a lot of money had been spent on ... was destroyed by the people,” Khamenei said.
Protests in Iran broke out on 15 October after government announced increasing petrol prices.
According to the Amnesty International, over 140 people were killed during the protests with thousands injured.
Iranian security forces have reportedly begun arresting those who took part in the protests, accusing them of links with the oppositions groups outside Iran.
