Iraqi national team ex-coach survives assasination attempt

Ex Iraqi national team coach
Yahya Alwan, former coach of Iraq's national football team, announced on Tuesday that he escaped an assassination attempt in central Baghdad.

Speaking to reporters, Alwan said that he came under fire while he was driving his car on Jadiriyah Bridge of Al-Saydiya district in central Baghdad.

The attack resulted in smashing the car window, he added.
The coach asserted that he couldn't see those who were involved in the shooting attack on his car.

A security force has cordoned off the scene and opened a probe to find out the circumstances of the incident.

Baghdad has been witnessing car bombs and suicide blasts from time to time in addition to sporadic attacks against civilians and security personnel in different parts of the city, leaving scores of Iraqi people dead and injured, according to security sources.
