Turkey to crush heads of Syrian Kurds if reject withdrawal: Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on Saturday that Ankara would "crush the heads" of the Syrian Kurdish forces if they refuse to withdraw from the Kurdish-held areas as part of a recently announced agreement by the US and Turkey.

Earlier on Thursday, the US and Turkey said in a joint statement that they had reached an agreement to a ceasefire in northeast of Syria, where Ankara has so far continued to target the Kurdish forces.

According to the deal, the Kurdish fighters are expected to leave the border areas between Turkey and Syria within 120 hours, while the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has accused Turkey of preventing them from withdrawing from the area, as bombardments have reportedly been continued.

However, Erdogan on Saturday said in a televised speech that if the pullout does not occur, "we will start where we left off and continue to crush the terrorists’ heads."
