Around 50 Kurdish immigrants went missing between Turkey and Italy, the Iraqi Migration Federation has said.
In remarks on Saturday, Roj Aziz, representative of the Iraqi Migration Federation in Istanbul, said there has been no signs of the immigrants, who were trying to enter Italy, since they disappeared a week ago.
The smugglers, according to Aziz, had told the families that they would reach the European country within two days. "But their fate has so far remained unclear," Aziz said.
He ensured the families of the immigrants that there has not been any incidents neither in Turkey nor in Italy. "They have apparently been arrested by the Turkish police and been jailed in Turkey."
Aziz indicated conducting an investigation into the case.
