Gov't took decisive measures to arrest Bahrain Embassy stormers: Halbousi

Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi - Iraqi Parliament official website
Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi affirmed that the Iraqi government has taken all decisive and immediate measures to arrest the perpetrators of the attack on the Bahraini embassy, adding that it will not tolerate such attacks.

In a phone call with Speaker of Bahrain's House of Representatives Fawzia Zainal, Halbousi said that those behind the incident will be referred to the judiciary, affirming that necessary protection for the embassy headquarters will be provided.

"The right to demonstrate is legitimate in all democratic systems, but the attack on diplomatic missions and facilities and the safety of its security is a red line for Iraq and cannot be allowed to be messed with," Halbousi said.

"We hope that such illegal acts would not affect Iraq's relations with Arab countries in general and the Kingdom of Bahrain in particular, especially after Iraq achieved significant steps in its openness to its Arab and regional surrounding," Halbousi said.

Moreover, The Iraqi Forces Coalition called on the government to deal firmly with those who seek damaging Iraq's diplomatic relations with the Gulf and Arab states and other countries.

The Coalition condemned the attack, saying that some people have exploited the right of peaceful demonstration to harm Iraq's external reputation and try to block Iraq's relations with its Arab and regional and international partners.
