A policeman and a civilian were injured as group of gunmen attacked the Iraqi police forces at the entrance of Azadi Hospital in central Kirkuk, a source was quoted saying.
In remarks, the source said the attack occurred on Wednesday overnight when the gunmen fired an RPG-7 at the police checkpoint near the hospital gate.
The RPG attack, according to the source, was followed by fire exchange between the assailants and the police forces, leaving one police officer and a passerby injured. A police armored vehicle was set on fire as the result of the RPG explosion.
Preliminary reports blamed the attack on ISIS sleeper cells, however, the source it was not clear who was behind the attack.
