Gholam Ali Rashid, the commander of the IRGC's Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, warned the US of the consequences of escalation, adding that the US will pay a high cost if a war starts in the region, in a bid to prevent US President from declaring war against the Iranian regime.
Rashid described the US measures as "interventionist" and its acts as "provocative," while ignoring to mention Iran's hostile act against the US drone earlier this month, which almost caused a war in the region.
Rashid kept threatening the US, adding that it will end up paying dearly if a war erupts,” regardless Trump's earlier warnings for Iran "not to threaten the US."
Iran doesn’t embrace war but is ready to defend the nation’s interest in the face of any threat and aggression, he claimed.
Tensions between Iran and the United States reached a record high after Iran shot a US drone which has reportedly flown in the international airspace.
