Halbousi, British Chargé d'Affaires talk gov't program, regional issues

Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi discussed with British Chargé d'Affaires in Baghdad John Tucknott, issue of completing the formation of the Iraqi federal government.

They highlighted the need for hard work to implement the government program and improve the services for citizens, according to a statement by Halbousi's office.

During their meeting, Halbousi and Tucknott discussed the importance of addressing the causes of the emergence of extremist organizations, intensifying efforts to return displaced families to their areas of residence, and providing the necessary infrastructure to help stabilize the liberated areas.

They also discussed the developments in the region, stressing the need to avoid escalation and maintain regional stability.

Parliament failed on Saturday to vote on candidates for vacant ministries, which forced the presidency of the parliament to withdraw the topic from the agenda of the session.
