The Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate
announced that its brigades in Kirkuk managed to put out as many as 23 fires on
The Directorate said in a statement that fire broke out in wheat fields, while other fires broke out in grass and bushes of some agricultural land, and orchards in different parts of the province.
The fire brigades could save 50 dunams of wheat, and prevent the spread of fire to the land and the houses close to the fire, according to the statement.
Many fires broke out during the last month in the wheat fields particularly at the disputed areas, with reasons remaining unknown.
However, a security source said in May that a number of ISIS elements set fire to fields of wheat and barley in Nineveh's Makhmour, as owners of the fields refused to pay royalties.
