Iraq's Border Port Commission's head Kadhim al-Iqabi said on Tuesday that there are a number of ports shared with each of Iran, Syria and Turkey, which are beyond the control of the commission, according to a statement by the commission.

The commission noted that these ports are run by various parties for their interests and are exploited in smuggling oil and importing various goods without any supervision, Iqabi said, during a meeting with government officials.

Iqabi called for amending the law of the border crossings and increase the number of the employees in the commission, as well as as the allocations granted to it.
