Marja Sistani officially declares Eid al-Fitr Wednesday in Iraq

The office of Cleric Ali al-Sistani, Iranian Shia marja in Iraq, announced Wednesday Muslim's Eid al-Fitr, depending on the sighting of the moon.

This comes while Sunni Iraqis have celebrated the Eid on Tuesday.

Eid al-Fitr is literally translated to "the feast of breaking the fast," which Muslims celebrate after fasting through the holy month of Ramadan from dawn to sunset.

Seven Arab countries announced celebrating Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Libya and Bahrain, depending on the sighting of the moon from these countries.

However, other countries including Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan and Australia announced celebrating the Eid on Wednesday, also depending on the sighting of the moon from these countries.
