The two sides affirmed the need to commit to the Iraqi clear policies and its national high interests and the importance of keeping Iraq away from conflicts and crises to preserve stability for Iraqi people, a presidential statement said.
Salih and Abd al-Mahdi reviewed the results of the Arab emergency summit and the 14th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held recently in Saudi Arabia's Makkah.
During the meeting, they also discussed developments in Kirkuk and Diyala, stressing the need to work on solving the problems facing the two provinces, combating terrorism and enhancing security and peace, the statement added.
