Prices of houses in Iran increase up to 40%: report

The real estate market is witnessing a hike in housing prices up to 40%, Iranian newspaper Mardom Salari reported.

The average value of one square meter in a housing unit in Tehran has exceeded 6 million tomans (1 toman equivalent to 10 riyals), according to the newspaper.

Also, the average price of a small housing unit (70 square meters) exceeded 420 million Iranian tomans, the report said.

The paper explained that after the price increase, tenants may resort to reside in the suburbs of the capital.
