Halbousi’s office says meeting with MPs tackled selection of Nineveh governor

Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi’s office has announced the details of the recent meeting with representatives of cities retaken from ISIS.

In a statement, the office said “the recent meeting tackled the ongoing political situation including the selection of Nineveh governor, which was considered to have taken place through corrupt deals, causing the residents to lose the chance to select a governor on constitutional basis.”

The meeting, according to the statement, “which was attended by 38 MPs and other leading figures, discussed mechanisms of forming the Iraqi forces alliance which will fulfill requirements of the liberated areas including reconstruction and repatriation of the displaced.”
