Nineveh's new governor, deputy vow to serve people, return displaced

New governor of Nineveh Mansour al-Mareed and his deputy Sirwan Mohammed pledged to work to serve the people of the province of all components.

They also vowed to work on rebuilding Nineveh and improving the conditions of living and services provided.

Mareed urged the dwellers of the province "of all components" to cooperate and adopt the one team spirit, and get stripped of personal affiliations.

"We will do everything we can in cooperation with all good people in the province," he added.

Also, the newly appointed deputy governor vowed to work to bring back the displaced people who were living in the areas destroyed by ISIS.

"We will work as a team and we will be serving our masses and our people in Mosul of all components," he stated.

A number of 28 members out of 39 members of the Nineveh provincial council, who participated in the vote on the Nineveh governor post's candidate on Monday, voted in favor of Mareed.

Also, Sirwan Mohammed of the Kurdistan Democratic Party was chosen as the first deputy governor.
