Kurdistan Region Security Council Chancellor Masrour Barzani has received in Erbil Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, after concluded his visit to Baghdad, where he met with top Iraqi officials and discussed politics, trade, water, and border security.
Barzani and Cavusoglu are expected to focus on political and economic ties between Ankara and Erbil, as well as the issues related to counter-terror efforts.
Cavusoglu is scheduled to also meet with other senior Kurdish officials while in Erbil.
Cavusoglu also met on Sunday with Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim as they discussed bilateral ties and mutual cooperation and the latest regional developments as well as regional issues related to Iran and Syria.
Observers said Hakim avoided addressing the presence of Turkish forces in Bashiqa and Nineveh or the Turkish military bases in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region – a key dispute between the two countries.
