Director of the Tel Aziz district in Sinjar, Captain Shukir Melham, has submitted his resignation from the position because the Iranian Militia in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) is hindering the district’s administration from carrying out the necessary construction for areas that were destroyed by ISIS.
Melham announced his resignation during a Friday press conference. He said, “The IMIS is hindering us from carrying out necessary work at the district.”
“This part of the district is destroyed, with no infrastructure, and land mines all over, which requires us to do serious reconstruction,” he added.
Earlier reports have revealed that the IMIS militia is accused of committing violations against residents and local officials, not to mention interfering in the affairs of governorates and extorting government buildings.
