The Sadrist Movement Leader Muqtada al-Sadr has commented for the first time on the assistance offered by the Iran Militia in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) to those harmed by the floods in Iran.
In his statements through Twitter, Sadr said Iraqis are in more need for the assistance, then comes the neighbors, referring to Iran.
“Since others offered assistance to the harmed regions in Iran, then it’s our role to assist our people in Iraq,” he said. “If managed to relieve the Iraqis who suffer the floods, then we are ready to help the neighbors, either in Iran or elsewhere.”
He went on saying that there are two agencies in charge of assisting people including the military or popular committees. He urged politicians not to get involved.
Some videos circulated through social media had showed assistance offered by IMIS to Iranians, harmed by the floods.
