The
United States Agency for International Development announced handing $100
million to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to promote stability
in Iraq's areas formerly liberated from ISIS.
By providing such aid, the total funds handed by the US government in this regard, amount to $358 million since 2015, a statement by the US embassy in Iraq said.
Joey Hood, the US charge d'affaires in Iraq, visited Anbar province western Iraq, where he met with a number of officials.
According to the embassy's statement, Hood called on the officials, tribal leaders, and people of the region to "protect the projects' sites and to perform their role to return all displaced Iraqis who wish to return home, and help them integrate into their communities."
