Kenneth McKenzie, commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), affirmed that the US would continue to support Iraqi forces in eliminating terrorism.
This came during a meeting between McKenzie and Iraqi President Barham Salih, on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad.
During the meeting, Salih called for mitigating tensions in the Middle East to strengthen international security and consolidate joint action.
Salih also highlighting the importance of fighting terrorism.
Salih's remarks came after the United States designated Iran's Revolutionary Guards as a "foreign terrorist organization." Iran also designated the CENTCOM and all its affiliates as "a terrorist group" on Monday.
