Four ISIS members were killed as a security operation was carried out on Tuesday in Anbar province, according to Ahmed al-Mahallawi, the mayor of Qaim border town.

In remarks, Mahallawi said security forces, backed by a force of the tribal mobilization forces, spotted an armored vehicle carrying four ISIS militants at a desert area between Qaim and Haditha districts in western Anbar.

The troops, according to Mahallaw, immediately opened fire at the vehicle, killing the four militants.

In late 2017, Iraq declared the collapse of ISIS territorial influence with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.
