Foreign Minister Mohamed al-Hakim said the Golan Heights is Syrian land and will remain so, affirming that Iraq respects the resolutions of the United Nations on Jerusalem and Golan, adding that Iraq's relationship with Iran is "strategic".
"We are working hard to bring Syria back to its seat in the Arab League, and the time has come for that," Hakim stated in press remarks.
Moreover, expressing the Iraqi government's keenness to strengthen its ties with Tehran, Hakim described the Iraqi-Iranian relations as "strategic," saying that they are based on partnership and commercial, cultural, security and
joint interests of both countries.
The summit meetings Iraq holds with the neighboring countries is "the outcome of the return to normal life in Iraq after the defeat of ISIS," Hakim said. He added that Iraq has become a "meeting point" for neighbors, and brothers.
