President Barham Salih has warned against turning Iraq into a battlefield for clashes between rival regional and international players.
In remarks on the sidelines of the Arab League Summit held in Tunisia last month, Salih said that he does not want Iraq to become an arena for settling scores, adding that the government will not let it happen.
He went on expressing wishes that Iraq becomes a meeting place for international and regional interests but in accordance with the interests and sovereignty of Iraq.
Moreover, he expressed Iraq appreciation toward the role played by the United States for the Iraqi government in fighting terrorism and defeating ISIS.
Salih also hailed the Arab support and understanding of the circumstances of Iraq, stressing necessity to consolidate joint Arab economic integration in light of the sensitive conditions in the region.
