Iraqi Parliament Member of the Committee of Economy and Investment Nada Shaker said Sunday the recent developments in Iraqi-Saudi relations are not only based on trade exchange only, as the investment opportunity will serve Iraq’s economy.

She said the agreements between the two countries will result in the creation of 186 investment projects in Iraq in various economic sectors.

This will create thousands of job opportunities for the unemployed, as well as fill the local need of goods consumed and reduce imports, and thus Iraq will become a producer country.

For his part, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Services and Reconstruction Mudar Khazaal affirmed that Iraq is closing in on a major economic breakthrough thanks to the developments in relations with neighboring countries.

Iraq has provided around 186 investment opportunities to Saudi companies during an official visit by a Saudi economic delegation to Baghdad on Wednesday and Thursday.

Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi has said during a press conference  that a free-trade zone will be established between Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

He further pointed out to the foundation of a joint Saudi-Iraqi businesscouncil to exchange investment opportunities between the two countries, which will be signed during Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi’s upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia.
