Iraqi-Saudi cooperation maintains regional, global stability: SAPRA

Salman al-Ansari, head of Saudi American Public Relation Affairs Committee (SAPRA) said on Friday that Iraqi-Saudi cooperation helps preserving the stability of the region and the world.

The rapprochement between the two countries has its clear strategic dimensions since October 22, 2017, when they signed in Riyadh an agreement to launch a joint coordination council, which is the first of its kind, in the presence of former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Ansari said.

The Kingdom has taken practical steps to strengthen and revitalize its relations with Iraq, which have been frozen for the past three decades, Ansari said. He referred to the decision to open Arar border crossing between the two countries.

He also pointed out to the Kingdom's decision to allocate $1.5 billion for the projects of reconstruction of Iraq, during the Kuwait International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq, saying that it indicates strengthening the bilateral relations.
