Lebanon’s Hezbollah has received assistance from Iran to build a new missile factory in Beirut, news reports revealed on Monday.
The information was shared by Israel with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who paid a visit to Lebanon in March, during which he warned Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri of the secret facility and expressed his concern about the threat the terrorist organization poses to the country.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, US source said the missile factory could include the capability of manufacturing precision-guided missiles.
In his address to the UN General Assembly in September, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of shielding its massive missile stockpiles behind civilian buildings, including Beirut’s main airport.
Hezbollah’s effort to build accurate and precise missiles has been targeted by Israel on numerous occasions in Syria.
