Security forces have
stepped up precautionary measures in the desert areas to prevent infiltration from
Syria towards Iraq's western regions and to track ISIS gangs, a security
source in Anbar said on Thursday.
The security measures focus on the establishment of several static and mobile checkpoints near the main roads and sub-roads leading to the desert areas, the source said, adding that raids are also carried out on areas believed to contain secret tunnels where ISIS elements hide to kidnap and attack security forces.
He pointed out that "these measures come to prevent any breach of security."
