Iraq expresses support toward Erbil’s efforts to refresh tourism

An Iraqi minister has expressed support toward efforts made by Erbil to boost tourism in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

While attending the Middle East Tourism Expo held in Erbil on Sunday, Minister of Culture Abdul-Amir Hamdani said the federal government seeks to strengthen its ties with the Kurdistan Region and tourism sector, adding that his ministry is trying to involve the region in international forums.

Furthermore, Hamdani highlighted the role played by media, which helped the success and development of the tourism sector in the Kurdistan Region.

In previous remarks, Nawroz Mawloud, KRG’s Minister of Municipality and Tourism, said the Kurdistan Region has set a goal to attract more visitors this year with hopes to attract over 3 million tourists by the end of the year.
