Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Nadia Murad said that the Iraqi and Kurdistan regional governments and international community all “failed in protecting” Kocho village victims while they were alive.

She expressed hope that they won’t fail them currently.

While the United Nations team investigating ISIS crimes in Iraq (UNITAD) began exhuming a mass grave in Sinjar's Yazidi village of Kocho, Murad said the crimes committed by ISIS “can’t pass” without punishment.

Murad, who had been taken captive by ISIS before she could escape, called on Arab tribal leaders have to provide security forces with the names of members who cooperated with the terrorist group.
