An Iraqi national was injured in a terrorist attack that targeted two mosques in New Zealand's city of Christchurch, killing at least 49 Muslim worshipers and wounding dozens others, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Iraqi citizen, Adib Samy, underwent a successful spinal surgery, the statement added.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Hakim has ordered the foreign ministry's spokesman, Ahmed al Sahaf, to contact Samy’s family to see to it that they are provided with all the support they need, the statement read.
