The Kurdish and Sunni factions in the Iraqi Parliament have expressed their refusal toward a proposal to end the US forces presence in Iraq, a lawmaker was quoted saying.

In press remarks on Wednesday, MP Ali Aboudi, representing the Alliance of Reform and Reconstruction, said the security agreement between Iraq and the US will be tackled at the Council of Representatives in the near future.

Aboudi explained that Iraq needs those foreign forces who assisted the country in the fight against terrorism, saying that the issue of the US troops in Iraq should be addressed through legal procedures.

The Shiite factions have repeatedly urged the parliament to force the US troops out of the country.
