Basra Provincial Council has filed two lawsuits at the Federal Court against the prime minister and parliament speaker to demand rights of the province in the crude oil revenues.

Documents issued by the council showed that the Chief Sabah al-Bazouni filed the lawsuits against Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi and Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbusi for setting an amount of one trillion dinars for the oil-producing provinces, although both the law and constitution set an amount of five percent of the revenues of the crude oil produced by the province.

The other lawsuit, according to the documents, was filed against Abdul-Mahdi for his recent decision banning the import of goods through Treibel border crossing.
