A member of Anbar's Jaghayfa
tribe announced on Thursday they had launched a military campaign
against ISIS in the desert area of the province and managed to kill five ISIS
The remarks come after twelve Iraqi people were reportedly kidnapped earlier in desert areas that belong to Karbala and Najaf; six of them were found shot dead one day after the incident.
"Two days ago, we carried out more than one operation against the remaining elements of the ISIS terrorist organization in the desert of Anbar province, where they had threatened the lives of people and farmers who go out to harvest the truffles," the tribe member said.
"We were able to kill five members of ISIS, to burn their cars and to seize their weapons," the member said, adding that "two of the clan fighters were slightly injured during the clashes."
This comes only one year after Iraq announced victory over ISIS and the full liberation of Iraqi cities.
