Iraqi troops kill five ISIS members in security ambush, northwest of Mosul

Five ISIS suicide bombers were killed on Wednesday in Nineveh, the Iraqi military said.

In a statement, Yehia Rasoul, spokesman of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, said the Iraqi army, backed by the Iran Militia in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) ambushed five suicide bombers wearing explosive vests and surrounded them in their vehicle in Badoush area, northwest of Mosul.

The troops then opened fire on the vehicle, killing five suicide bombers and setting the vehicle on fire, the statement added.

In a press conference, earlier on the day, the Iraqi Army's Chief of Staff Othman al-Ghanimi said Iraqi troops captured 24 ISIS militants, including four leaders, who sneaked through Syria to Mosul.
