Gov't hid details of 2019 budget allocations on purpose: MP

The Iraqi Parliament
Parliament's Finance Committee member Ahmed al-Safar accused the government of deliberately hiding the details of the allocated money for each ministry and their subsidiaries in the 2019 budget, which  parliament earlier passed.

The 2019 budget contains a lot of mistakes and problems, Kurdistan Democratic Party MP Safar said, adding that it was passed without completely reviewing and scrutinizing most of its details, because of lack of time.

The Iraqi parliament has approved the 2019 state budget after an hours-long vote in January, ending weeks of deadlock over allocations to different provinces and privatization of state projects.

The budget projected oil exports of 3.88 million barrels per day (bpd), up from 3.8 million bpd for the previous year, at a price of $56 per barrel.
