Securing Kirkuk remains in federal government's hands - Abd al-Mahdi

Prime Minister, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Adil Abd al-Mahdi on Wednesday affirmed keeping the security file of Kirkuk in the hands of the federal government only, according to Arshad al-Salihi, leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front.

Salihi said that he discussed with Abd al-Mahdi all the issues concern Kirkuk and other disputed areas.

During the meeting, Abd al-Mahdi affirmed that there is no change in the Iraqi government's stance towards the equal restoration of national balance between all Iraqi components, Salihi said.

The prime minister also highlighted the importance to keep the security of Kirkuk in the hands of the federal government, in order to restore the balance in the area of long time of instability.
