Iraq has officially asked Turkey to fill Ilisu Dam before summer, taking advantage of the heavy rains.
“The Water Resources Ministry officially addressed Ankara to take advantage of the rains and floods to fill Ilisu Dam before summer,” Madar Khazaal, member of the parliament’s water and agriculture committee said.
“Turkey has a great chance to fill the reservoirs of Ilisu Dam with water and provide Iraq with complete share via Tigris River,” he added.
Lots of rains fell during the current season, he said, adding that “Iraqi dams and reservoirs were full of water. Enough amount were stored to use in the summer, which gives Turkey a good change to fill Ilisu Dam.”
