Major General Nazim Keli, a Peshmerga forces retired commander, was killed on Tuesday evening in a traffic accident in Kurdistan's capital of Erbil.

General Kali was one of the participants in the First Iraqi-Kurdish war led by Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani in the 1960s. Following the Autonomy Agreement signed in March 1970, he became one of seventy officers admitted to the military academy by Barzani.

Before his retirement, Keli was a general director of the Peshmerga Ministry Government and one of the founders of the Peshmerga Zeravani leadership.
