Par'l Speaker urges int'l community to assist Iraq in reconstruction

Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi has said that Iraq is going forward in the reconstruction and regaining, indicating that the support of the international community would boost the development process.

“The main challenges facing the country is the poor services and lack of job opportunities,” Halbousi said during a meeting in London's Chatham House on the main challenges and the requirements needed during the coming phase. “Job opportunities in Iraq do not cover the number of graduates, the matter which keeps adding to the unemployment rates; We need pre-prepared plans to provide services and jobs.”

Iraq, according to Halbousi, suffers a problem with planning due to the war against terrorism and extremists. He also highlighted necessity to draw clear plans to resolve the financial and administrative corruption.

He further indicated cooperation between the three powers in Iraq, expressing hopes for success, creating job opportunities and suitable atmosphere for investment.

Halbousi also pointed out to the fierce war that Iraq has been through, which resulted in destroying its infrastructure, thus he urged the international community to fulfill its commitments toward Iraq.
