Yazidi hereditary leader dies at age of 86

Yazidi hereditary leader Mir Tahsin Beg died at the age of 86, officials confirmed on Monday.

He was also the head of the Yazidi Supreme Spiritual Council.

Head of Yezidi Affairs at the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs confirmed that Mir Tahsin Beg died at a hospital in Germany.

Mir Tahseen Beg had been the leader of Ezidis around the world since 1944, following the death of his father.

There are about one million Ezidis worldwide, with almost half of them living in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
