Iraqi FM stresses necessity of finding political solution to Syrian crisis

Iraq’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali al-Hakim, discussed on Friday with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi the general regional issues.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim reaffirmed Iraq’s call for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

Hakim was quoted during his participation in a dialogue panel on the sidelines of the 49th Davos Economic Forum as saying that, “Iraq calls for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria to preserve its territorial integrity.”

Commenting on Iraq’s strategy in combating terrorism, al-Hakim said, “It is based on continuing military operations to eliminate terrorism,” indicating that the Iraqi forces are continuing to eradicate the remnants of terrorists from Iraqi territories.

He further added that Iraq is the first defense line against terrorism in the region.

Hakim also said terrorist attacks that hit the Middle East affected Iraq the most, pointing out that Iraqi presented many sacrifices to liberate their land from the grip of ISIS terrorists.
